Orange Records 504% Rise in Dongle Subscriptions
Orange has recorded a 504 percent increase in dongle subscriptions in the last 12 months and this has fuelled a staggering 4125 percent increase in mobile broadband data consumption for the company.
These statistics were revealed in the fifth Digital Media Index released by
Paul Jevon, the director of products, portals, and services at orange said that costumers are taking advantage of the ease of use and seamlessness of mobile broadband. This, according to him, is encouraging customers to download huge quantities of data to access among other things, applications made especially for mobile usage. Monthly data transfer on the Orange mobile network now stands at no less than 386 terabytes on an average. Around 3.8 million Orange subscribers now boast of either a dongle or a 3G enabled device. These figures are bound to rise, according to Jevon, who predicts that newly introduced embedded mobile broadband laptops would contribute to a major increase in subscriber numbers.
According to Jevon, a boost of this kind indicates the heralding of the ‘mobile data era’, which promises to be quite exciting in terms of technological innovation and convenience for users.
